Disney's “Finding Nemo, Jr.” Named for STEP VA 2025 Spring Musical
FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA—Excitement was bubbling as STEP VA Inc., the local 501(c) nonprofit that “empowers people with disabilities, and their families, through artistic expression and sensory exploration,” announced last night that Disney's “Finding Nemo, Jr.” will be its 2025 spring musical.
The 2025 show is the organization's fourth licensed musical, following Disney's “The Lion King, Kids!,” “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and 2024's “Seussical Jr.”
The organization's first foray into musicals started in 2021 with the original, in-house musical “A Special COVID-19,” written by long-time participant Noah Finch.
The STEP VA musical selection committee comprised of 14 STEP VA participants ranging from middle school-age to adults worked together over four sessions to narrow down options. The committee then presented the options to the production team who made the final choice and submitted it to the licensing organization for approval.
“Collectively they came in with a very long list of potential musicals,” said Marcus Dowd, musical selection committee facilitator. “Each musical was carefully analyzed, I was blown away with how carefully they examined each option!”
The musical will be held April 12-13, 2025 at Courtland High School.
